A roaring success
The king of the beasts, featured on the front cover of Richmond Magazine’s January issue, (above) certainly made his presence known at ALERT’S first UK charity event outside Africa. Paul Bussell’s mighty image of a lion helped raise more than £2000 after two images were sold in aid of the non-profit organisation that helps in the release of rehabilitated African lions back into the wild. Sir Ranulph Fiennes, explorer extraordinaire and patron of ALERT, gave a lecture entitled ‘Living Dangerously.’ The event, held at the Royal Geographical Society on January 18, raised more than £8000 and included a donation from twice Oscar nominated actor Ralph Fiennes.(Sir Ranulph’s third cousin). In April, Paul travels to Africa to photograph lions and support ALERT’S charity work further.
